Our Philosopy

At Sweet Republic, our goal is to put a smile on each customer's face. We believe that the only way to achieve this is to create the most flavorful indulgences from all-natural ingredients, handcrafted in small batches right in the store.

For our artisan ice cream, we start with milk and cream from independent Arizona dairy farms, and add hand-stirred caramel, slow-roasted bananas,

handmade marshmallows, fresh baked brownies and more.  For our sorbets, we use ripe whole fruit, which we peel, pit and chop right in the store.

We don't just stop here - we also make all our own cookies, toppings, sauces and waffle cones from scratch - this way we know only the highest quality ingredients are used. There are no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives or hydrogenated oils in any of our products - only what nature intended.

At Sweet Republic, we believe in sharing the pleasure of ice cream in a way that is responsible to the environment we live in. We suggest eating our artisan treats with ice cream sticks made from birch wood sustainably harvested in Maine. We recycle all plastic and glass bottles, so please make sure to hand your bottle back to us when you're done with it.

Our Story

Shortly after opening our doors in the summer of 2008, we were named the Valley's best ice cream by Phoenix New Times and Top 10 Ice Cream by Bon Appetit. We believe that our success stems from our innovative flavors, artisan craftsmanship and premium ingredients.

Our flavor creations, such as decadent Salted Butter Caramel Swirl and refreshing Basil Lime sorbet  are based on the combination of both our worldwide travels. We've been featured in Time Magazine for our unusual flavors Sichuan Chocolate, Sweet Corn and Blue Cheese.

Before moving to Arizona to launch Sweet Republic, Helen was an East Coaster who worked in New York City and London before heading off to Sydney to attend Le Cordon Bleu. She then moved to Berkeley to work on the hot line at Eccolo, a Cal-Italian restaurant. While Jan was a West Coast girl who worked in finance in the Asian culinary capitals of Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok.

Because Helen and her team handcraft all our ice cream in small batches, the selection changes regularly. We do promise 20+ flavors of ice cream and sorbet daily – both unique and classic.

Our Eco-Friendly Design

With the creative ideas of our interior design consultant Dustin Dis, we were able to create a modern retro environment that we believe is both people, as well as, earth friendly.

Our table tops at Scottsdale are made from sorghum stalks - a beautiful renewable resource that is otherwise discarded as waste. Our custom made bench and tabletops are made without formaldehyde - a recognized carcinogen that is otherwise used in most commercially available particle boards. The fabric for our cushions is Greenguard certified for low emissions.

The striking Braille paneling at the back of our Scottsdale store is made with bamboo pulp, one of the world's most renewable resources. The candy-colored round tiles on our backsplash are made by Clayhaus Ceramics which handcrafts each one using recycled glass in a kiln instead of a furnace, minimizing energy used and harmful emissions.

Our logo signifies a lotus flower rising through the water to blossom, symbolizing the emergence of our passion and realization of our dreams. (Graphic design by Yungraphik.)
